I first heard of this book when I read online that it's been picked up for a film and Dylan O'Brien was cast as the lead character, Thomas. Since I'm a big fan of Teen Wolf and Stiles (O'Brien's character in the show), I immediately added this book to my to-read list.
The book started with Thomas waking up inside The Box, remembering nothing but his own name. A group of young men, which referred to themselves as Gladers, found him and hauled him up from The Box. From there, Thomas learned his ways in The Glades while trying to remember everything he can about his past. Everyone thought he was just a normal boy until things started to change around The Glades.
The book was pretty kickass. I've witnessed enough testosterone throughout the story, since most of the characters were male. I liked how these boys talk, they pretty much filled my vocabulary with words like shuck-face, klunk-head and greenie. I also liked their names/nicknames, which totally made me stop reading and figure out who is who. I'll give you a hint, alright. The Gladers were given nicknames from famous scientists. *winks*
I loved how the author finishes each chapter with mini-cliffhangers which makes it a real page-turner. The book was really action packed and it leaves you begging for more. I'm pretty sure boys would really like to read this one.
I can't wait to read the next one.
And, yes. I'm pretty much excited for the movie.
